Embarrassing Moment #237

Look I'm posting two days in a row now. It's a Christmas miracle. God bless us everyone. Well on the advice of Lindsay, I should share my latest embarrassing moment with everyone. Oh, for those of you who don't know Lindsay, she's my partner in crime and my trusty sidekick here in Spanish Fork. She lives on the same block as me and infact my two year old Jonas is BFF's with her two year old Nathan. We also serve in Young Women's together. I'm second counselor and she's secretary which must mean I'm a little bit awesomer than her right? That's how they figure our how we are placed in our callings right? On our level of awesomeness...? HA! Kiddingkiddding of course. If that were true Lindsay would be the President of... well the President of all the callings... except the Priesthood ones because that would be wrong. Anyways I'll just get on with my story...

Okay the Relief Society in my ward here in Spanish Fork holds a special Saturday morning breakfast every year. There are a lot of old wom-- I mean experienced gardeners in our ward and the breakfast in usually held in one of their immaculate gardens. Which by the way I don't know how these women do it. I mean I see them hobbling into church with all the old person paraphenilia, walkers, oxygen... walkers for their oxygen bottles... But some how they are able to tame their yards into these incredible secret gardens. For me, dragging the sprinkler from the front yard to the backyard just about does me in for the day. And yes we use a sprinkler on the end of a hose. I like to keep it old school when I garden, that's just how I roll. : ) Smiley faces are so gangster. Anywho, this year's breakfast is was held in Sister McBeth's yard. Out of all the old ladies in my ward, Sister McBeth is probably my favorite. She's my Visiting Teaching partner. At first I think I annoyed and scared her... and no Heather not because I'm brown. : ) but I think it was the flakiness... shocking, I know.. Anyways I've endeared myself to her over the last year and now she loves me... kind of the same way people love three legged dogs, but that's good enough for me : ) sidenote: we visit teach a lady with a three legged dog named Lucky. Oh and Sis. McBeth's voice sounds exactly like Mrs. Doubtfire by the way, which makes her even more awesome.

Okay so speaking of my flakiness... back to the story... see this is why I have a hard time blogging but I'm just going to press forward and finish even if no one is probably reading by now-- well maybe to lure you along I should tempt you with a shocking twist at the end! Go M. Night Shamylan on your behinds!!! Okay focus! Soooo I knew that the breakfast started at 10:00 a.m. and I had signed up to bring fruit. Another good friend in my ward, Cynthia was in charge of the breakfast and I solemnly swore to be at the breakfast just for her. So I got all fancy and bought one of those three-tiered fruit trays with the silver handle on top and the biggest juiciest ruby-reddest strawberries that Macey's had to offer. I got up early on Saturday to wash and assemble my super-fancy new tray and rinse my big fat beautiful strawberries. I lovingly placed each one ever so gently on my three-tiered wonder. Of course I couldn't find my keys when I went to leave, again shocking I know, so I arrived a few minutes after ten o'clock. When I pulled up I noticed that no one else was rushing into the backyard with me... Wow-- everyone was really with it today I thought..... because as I walked back everyone was already seated and it looked like they were just starting the opening exercises. The way everyone was situated in the yard I had to walk infront and around everyone to get back to where the buffet table was. I felt everyone watching me as I walked back. Like reeeeally watching me. They must have been admiring my ridiculously cool new tray and struck speechless by the plumpness of the strawberries-mother nature's candy as I like to call them. Plus I was having an exceptionally good hair day. Yes, they were in awe for sure. So I quickly place my little tower of juicy goodness on the the buffet and take a seat... the woman who was giving the opening prayer was standing waiting for me to sit and was smiling at me... she must love the tray as much as I do... I'll have to tell her where I got it when we start eating... So she starts the prayer... she gives thanks for the beautiful day... yesss sir beee-u-ti-ful indeeedilly doo.... for the beautiful surroundings.... amen to that! Sister McBeth really out did herself.... for the wonderful lessons that had been taught-- Come again? They already taught a lesson??? Before the opening exercises??? Wow this new presidency is fast... (that is me still not getting it)... so the prayer ends, the R.S. First Counselor thanks everyone for coming and says "And Angela brought strawberries!" Everyone looks me at me laughs and then they get up and start putting their chairs away. YYYeeeah it started at 9:00. I got their for the closing prayer and strutted in like I was Martha Flipping Stewart..... I'm an idiot. Okay I've got to go feed my kids breakfast. Peace! Oh shocking twist... hmmm... the shocking twist iiisss...... THE CALL IS COMING FROM UPSTAIRS! HE'S IN THE HOUSE! wasn't that scary? Seacrest out. : )

Way to go Martha, way to go! Did they eat your berries? You know...for breakfast-dessert?

Perhaps you should start writing things down, you know like when things start, you know stuff like that.

Excellent post by the way! I knew you would rock at this! I just knew it! Thank you for making my day with your awesome truely truely embarrasing moment! I love exclamation points.

for the record...Ive never noticed that you are flaky. Perhaps it's because I also am a flake, so it just doesn't bother me enough to notice.

sooooo funny. Karl and I did that a couple of years ago at a ward dinner. We had been assigned to bring dessert. We got there as they were serving dessert... I guess it was good that we didn't have a main course.

So glad you are posting! It brings a smile to my face! I can hear your voice as I read!

I love that story, I can just picture it. Why did I have to leave the ward a week before that garden party. Our new ward's R.S. is having a similar garden party but everyone has to wear a fancy hat. This has good potential for funny stories, so stay tuned. Tell Samantha hi, she said she's write me letters. :)

Kristin and I were reading this over the phone and I was laughing so hard I cried all my makeup off and then we said it was funny because it was true and that sounded like a movie line but we couldn't figure out what movie and then later we decided that maybe it sounded a little like in Sleepless in Seattle when Meg says "that statistic is absolutely not true" and the other girl says "it feels true" and then someone else says "it feels true because it is true." And that is why your story is so funny, you see, because it is true.

This post is old and moldy now. It's time to get a new one. Nothing long or fancy just a quick little jot would be fine.

Also, tell brad I think that attaching a parachute to the plane would be very dangerous. I'm surprised you didn't know that.
