Big Ol' Jet Airliner

Your welcome for having that Steve Miller song stuck in your head for the rest of the day! : )

So last week the Davies family took the longest vacation we have ever taken in our entire lives. It was just the best. In fact we're sick of having real lives and we're just going to go back on vacation and do that instead. How are we going to pay our bills you ask? We're sick of paying those so we just gonna go ahead and stop doing that too. That takes care of my Office Space quote of the day...

Samantha's class does "Show and Teach" every Friday. For this week we prepared a little scrapbook about our vacation and she passed out scallop shells that we found in Newport. It was a big hit. There were tons of shells on this.. uh "private" boat harbor... so many it was as if only one or two families use that harbor... As if they had paid trillions of dollars to be the sole users of it with no intention of having annoying tourists gallivanting in on a red and white striped, fringed surrey and making off with dozens and dozens of shells... Weird huh?

So here is Samantha's show and teach... Twist on the old show and tell... We slipped in some educational crapola about shells and high tides that I'll spare you from. Mostly she just talked about her fantastic vacation. Give us a break, we never get to do stuff like this so we're allowed some unabashed bragging right?

Last week my family went on vacation in California. We did a lot of cool stuff we had never done before.

My brother and I took our first ride in an airplane.

We went a professional baseball game at Dodger Stadium.

We saw street performers in Santa Monica. There were skateboarding dogs, a guy who could blow really cool bubbles, my faves breakdancers and a monkey in a cowboy suit. If you give him a dollar he will shake your hand. side note: We called Grandma Davies the next day to tell her about our adventures. Jonas summed his experience very succinctly by saying "I saw da monkey."

We got to see a real red carpet with real movies stars...from pretty far away

We spent a few days at Disneyland...

And California Adventure... I got to be in the High School Musical dance party...

side note:
Jonas' favorite movie is "Cars". He got to see Lightning McQueen and Mater. The Disney Pixar parade started at 5pm which was about the time Jonas would crash in the stroller for a late nap. We went to the parade three times...Jonas was awake for one, BARELY, but that was enough. : )

We spent two days at the beach. One day we went to Huntington Beach and the next day we went to Newport Beach.

In Newport we rented a four-person bikecar. I sat in the basket in the front with my friend Alyssa.

On the last day we drove back to Los Angeles and went to the Getty Museum. There were lots of famous paintings and antiques. This bed in almost 300 years old. It came from France and it is worth 6 MILLION DOLLARS!

They made a replica of this bed for the children's room. This is us reading books on it.

Our trip to California was really great and I was sad to leave, but I was so happy to come back and see all my friends here at Park School. The End.

Here's a couple more pics that I liked. The swimming pool one is purely for my ego since it is the best picture that has been taken of me since I've had children. The fact that Brad is about eight feet above me and the rest of me is hidden from the neck down may have something to do why I like it. NEVERTHELESS, I do like it. : )

Welcome Back Kotter...

Well the first week of school is in the bag. Samantha's first day of second grade was on Wednesday and even though her two BFF's, Wynter and Maddie, are not in her class this year she still managed to have a great week and even make a new friend named Jocelyn.

When she got home from the first day she said "It's so great Mom, we just play all day and don't even have to do like, ya know ..Math anymore." That's my girl... Unfortunately that sneaky-snake Mrs. Gardener slipped Math in on them on the second day... but a girl can dream right?

She's pretty much there for the socializing part. Albeit a good little reader who does idolize her teachers....but make no mistake, Samantha is there for the party.

Although speaking of good teachers, I thought it would be fun for everyone to name their favorite teacher and why and no Jenny you can't choose yourself! : )

Mine was Mrs. Romesburg who was my 12th grade English teacher. She made me feel smart even when my g.p.a. sometimes proved otherwise...

Okay now who is yours?

My dog ate my blog, my grandma's blog died...

My blog is in the mail... my blog ran out of ink... my blog has asthma?...

Well there's really not much I can say except neglecting the blog has the exact same feeling as not handing in homework... I was always bad at that, sadly I still am. : )

But things that I had meant to blog but didn't were the following

June 18th-Born to Run- Myself along with five sexy ladies from our ward's enrichment group lovingly dubbed "The Bod Squad", completed our first 5K together in beautiful and scenic Mona, Utah. You may laugh because Mona looks like a whole lot of nothing from the freeway but it was one of the best days of our whole summer.

The 5K was part of the Lavendar Days Festival that is held at Young Living Farms and we literally ran through the lavendar fields. It was really great until I had my first allergy attack ever after the race ended. Those things are nasty. But despite turning into a human mucus factory everything else was the just a blast. It's always fun to take your church buddies on the road and experience new things together. The Bod Squad meets twice a week at the highschool track and are currently working towards another 5K in September. You go girls!

The festival itself was a ton of fun too. Samantha's favorite part was the Lavendar Fairies that are roaming around granting fairy wishes by sprinkling magic dust (glitter) in children's hands and having them blow it away while they make their wish. So cute you want to hurl right? It's definitely worth the admission. Pony rides, paddles boats and funnel cake, who could want more?

July 10- Just like peas and carrots - Brad and I celebrated our 1000th year of marriage, oops I mean 10th year of marriage. If you don't know already the 10th anniversary is the "Churro" anniversary. Naturally we spent ours at Lagoon. We did this last year and had so darn much fun we did it again this year and had a blast. If you haven't been to Lagoon in a few years, you should go. It's not as ghetto as it once was. That should be their new slogan right? Lagoon: Now 50% less ghetto. Man they better not steal it from me! If they do you all are my witnesses. Can I get a witness The new ride Wicked is exactly that, well I think they should have pushed it to the next level by adding Awesome to the end.. Wicked AWESOME! Wouldn't that be a great name for a ride?! I think so. But Brad and I lovelovelove it like flipping nuts we love it. We would ride it in the dark on a plane with a fox and on a train. Ridiculously fun.

I guess right here I could go into some lamo analogy of rollercoasters and marriages and crap but on the serious tip, I must say that I just love Brad to the moon. I gave a lesson on temple marriage the week of our anniversary, it just happened to fall on that Sunday which was pretty cool. Anyways I told my young women about when Brad came to pick me up to go to the temple the morning of our wedding. We were young, I was twenty and Brad was 23. On the ride to the temple I began to get nervous and all the things that I would be missing out on with friends ie., road trips, late night trips to taco bell, supergluing roommates toiletries to the bathroom sink... all those things came rushing through my mind. Looking back I really feel like it was a last ditch effort by the adversary to stop what was about to take place. Once we got to the temple I felt at peace but for about two minutes I was scared. I wish I could go back to that young 20 year old girl and give her five and tell her this is the best thing you have ever done and the best decision you have ever made. You have made so many stupid ones, but this one, this is a good one. Probably the best ever, so stop being scared and get your butt into that temple with this good, good man.

Sometime in July-Daycare revisited -started daycare in my home with
just a couple of babies. I did it a couple of years ago, but it was bad timing. The babies I have now both are very sweet, very happy little bundles of babyfat rolls. So far so good. Jonas, my big caveman of a two-almost-three-year-old is very sweet to them which is shocking to me and has even learned to tone down his hugs a notch or two so that the babies don't cry when he shows them just how much he loves them... : )

April-July-Brad's abyss Brad working like 90 hours a week on their latest work project. He customizes sleepers for diesel trucks. They make them, bigger with kitcens and showers and shiz. I'm so proud of what he can design and create but the hours required are craptastic. Kristin says we should name the truck "The Homewrecker". HA! Brad has taken my critical observation of this project and also my suggestions for the next project into serious consideration. : )

August 10th-Lucky number 7- Samantha is now seven and I am now crying. She is the coolest seven year old on the planet, to me atleast, definitely the coolest on the block for sure. She celebrated with a fifty-dollar shopping spree at toys-r-us in which she picked out a highschool musicl "i-pod"(it plays sevensongs) A High School Musical school supply set and a mini sewing maching that looks like the real thing and actually sews. She also got to go to girls camp with me which she has been begging for all summer and I surprised her at the last minute and let her go with me. She said it was the best present she has ever gotten which is why she is the coolest seven year old on the planet.

Well I'm going to end this because, really who the heck is reading by now anyways... Thanks to everyone for striving with our blog and I am going to spend the rest of today reading yours. I love Sundays. Peace!
